Sarah Leon's testimony.
I came to know the Holy Spirit in 1992 whilst on a mission's trip to Bolivia. I was the only non-Christian on the trip! When I returned home, I knew I was different inside, but I couldn't explain what exactly had changed. For another 10 years I walked through life knowing that God was real, but with absolutely no desire to welcome him into my life. I was an 'orphan spirit' - living fatherless, trusting no one and turning to all the wrong places to find my comfort and security in life.
Finally, ten years after my experience in Bolivia, I realised that I couldn't 'do life' by myself - I was in a mess. At that time I welcomed Jesus into my heart and life. What seemed like the most impossible thing to do - turned out to be the easiest and by far the best thing I have ever done in my life!
Since that day in October 2008, my life and my thinking has radically changed. I started coming to House of Destiny Church and received the teaching that my spirit so desperately hungered for. I look back on my life now, and wonder how I coped with life outside of knowing this personal relationship I have developed with the Holy Spirit and Jesus!
For the past year I have attended Spirit Life Bible School at House of Destiny, and I have served in the church - working to assist with the events and promotion of events in the church. I feel like I have been on a fast track - just growing and growing spiritually. House of Destiny Church is a great place to learn about your identity in Christ and your spiritual authority and I now have a much greater sense of who I am in God's eyes, and what that means in terms of how I live my life.
Whilst I was putting this testimony together, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a piece of scripture, it was:
'In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.'
Proverbs 3:6
This is the truth behind my testimony - God has made my path straight. I give thanks to God everyday now for that fact!
